Vecco Newsfeed 2025 – General Meeting, Oberhausen 2025

A boost for the future of chrome plating:

Vecco e.V. General Meeting in Oberhausen in 2025

Many thanks to all those who attended our 2025 General Meeting at the Altstaden Colliery. This historic industrial site provided the perfect setting for discussing the future of chrome plating.

The focus was on the REACH restriction proposal for chromium trioxide and the ongoing public consultation. As an accredited stakeholder of the ECHA, we were able to present new insights from international conferences, such as ChemCon 2025 in Venice, and highlight other exciting topics.

The specialist presentations by our guest speakers Christoph Katz (EPPA), Dr Werner (Atotech) and Patrick Hering (Airtec Mueku) in the afternoon were particularly valuable. They demonstrated in a practical way how PFAS in electroplating or the upcoming emission requirements can be managed using modern technology.

Encouraging news: the first members have already expressed interest in a joint innovation project on extraction and a feasibility study on virtual captives. An online survey will follow shortly.

An inspiring day full of discussion, clarity and energy for the coming years, in an industry that, whilst under regulatory pressure, continues to have so much to offer the European economy.

Thank you to all members who attended. You can find further information and the presentations from Oberhausen in the members’ area.
